In my last blog I had spoken about how events are gaining normalcy meaning- there is now an actual stage with lights, a podium, microphones, trophies, speeches and of course an anchor/ emcee. Like everyone else, I'm thrilled to get back to speaking to a live audience, yet I don't think events or conferences are entirely going to shift back to being offline. Some parts of panel discussions or this one like a Lucky Draw will continue to be held virtually.

This Virtual Show for Nexon Paints took place in an office at Mumbai. The requirement was of an anchor who could interact in Telugu, Hindi and English. If you watch the video, it will seem like a cakewalk to you and you might say "Well, that's what a compère is paid for".

True that- we did a dry run from my place a day before the show and it was seamless. But, does an event ever run without any hiccups? Hahah!

So, I reached the office where the virtual event was to take place, our cameraman turned up a bit late because it was a Sunday morning. Now, this was a show where I was given a script to be read through my laptop and when we did the dry run from home- it went brilliantly.

The scene here at the office was different- I had to look into the camera which was on a tripod and not the laptop's camera. The agency which had hired me was not ready with a teleprompter either. Meaning, there was distance of three feet between where my eyes had to look and where the script was (my laptop).

All of us panicked! We had no clue how we would solve this bit in the next ten minutes. But then , as cliche as it sounds don't I claim that "Everything always falls into place" when yours truly is hired to be the emcee? ;)

I told the team we'll sail through. It

took some focus to memorise the sequence of the speeches, some buying time while I moved from Hindi to Telugu and of course, loads of water and deep breaths. There were a few technical glitches but that's not my story to tell. It went well. The client had no clue what we went through to put up this lucky draw, but we all parted with aspirations of meeting next year on stage while their company's turn-over crosses the Hundred Crore mark.

Hope this small read gives you more insights to the vide below :)
